One of the best sandwich joints in Boston...while it can be packed on the weekends, with sometimes a 30-40 minute wait for a sandwich it is WORTH IT! My all time favorite from Dave's is the fig and prosciutto sandwich on a baguette, toasted. While waiting for my order, I like to peruse through the market, as they have a variety of unique and interesting snacks.

Consistently high quality and delicious sandwiches. Loved being able to order ahead on line with the ability to check the status of the order.

Sometimes I find the pasta hit or miss. I took a great class here years ago though and I appre the specialty goods and awesome sandwiches.

Pasta is always delicious. With the variety of flavors you can always find something you want. The staff is very helpful and willing to assist you in pairing a pasta or ravioli with one of the their fresh sauces.

I went to Dave's for a pasta making class. It was quite expensive and had to be booked months in advance. Because of those 2 things I was a bit taken back by the lack of organization in the class structure. They squeezed like 12-15 of us into the back kitchen and we all just stood around 1 table for most of the class. There was nowhere to sit which was tough because I brought my mom who has back issues. The class started about 45 minutes late as well. The nice parts of the class were that it includes a charcuterie board and lots of wine. We made 3 kinds of pasta and cooked 2 of them in class. After we made the spaghetti and ravioli, the instructor did the cooking and added the sauces. I would have liked to be more involved in those parts of the process, but the class only covered the raw noodle making. I was still able to have a good time, but it didn't quite meet my expectations after going to a super organized class before this (dumpling making at mei meis in southie).

One of the finest things about Cambridge! Dave's is not just a fresh pasta shop. It's a one-stop shop for all your entertaining needs- pick up freshly made pasta, delicious sauces (the lemon parm cream sauce is perfection), meats/cheese/olives/dips for your snacking board, plus other fun gifts/desserts/breads and don't forget to peruse their drinks and freezer section. Oh also, you can buy delicious sandwiches from their sandwich counter (the Grilled Chicken #1 is shockingly tasty) which features some truly tasty bread choices. The pasta people are so helpful and kind and will help you decide exactly how much pasta to buy so you won't feel overwhelmed in the face of all their choices; they'll even package it taking into account if you plan on cooking it later today vs. in 1-2 days and give you written instructions on the best way to store and cook it. It can be very busy so order online/ahead if you can, but make sure you make time to browse all their selections!

Fabulous past place in the town Make sure to check out this place if you are visiting Davis square. And don't let the name fool you, they not only have delicious pastas and sauces go with them, but much more (different pastries, deli sandwiches, generous selection of beers & wines, etc.) I thought their cubano tasted great! Who needs to say more, their pasts are delicious and pretty affordable if you think about the neighborhood they are located at. Last time we picked out some black squid linguines, pumpkin/peach raviolis with pesto sauce. They were delicious and I can't wait to try their different pastas and sauces next time! Also check out their cute tote bag! We had to get them since they're adorable!

Dave's is raved about by anyone that has lived in or in close proximity to Davis Square, which warranted some first-hand investigation as it boasts a sandwich shop, homemade/fresh pasta daily, a wine/craft beer shop, and all things food and specifically Italian-inspired goods. So, what could go wrong... other than the fact a legendary "Little Italy" resides in the North End of Boston? As we entered, I kept my internal skeptic and judgment quiet as we took in all that Dave's had to offer. It felt like it was basically lifted from the North End and dropped on the edge of Davis Square proper. It was pretty amazing how they have captured the noisy atmosphere in such a quiet stretch of Davis... and you know what? I kinda dig it... :P The pasta, oils, wine, and beer selections are as good as anywhere you can find in Boston. The pasta itself might even be better than some of the decorated, heavy hitters (including Eataly). The staff is beyond knowledgeable and able to help you sift through the seemingly endless options in their store and point you to the perfect pasta you are looking for to dress up with that special sauce or what you can do to create an entire meal around the purchased pasta and goods. Now, all that being said... the sandwich/lunch shop is really unbeatable in the area. For the price and quality you get, you will be able to get a fast, well-priced, delicious meal that won't break the bank. Sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, and sides are all shifted periodically so if you become a regular you'll never worry about getting fatigued because there is always something new on the board or rotating through the shop. I don't have anything negative to say about Dave's... the only word of caution I have is to be aware of the hours of operation (they AREN'T open late) and since the pasta and fish are both fresh daily - they may be sold out if you get there near their closing time. Minor points for such a labor of love by the owners and staff there, however. If you can't find something to love about Dave's, then I am sad to say we cannot be friends - as it embodies many of the things I love about food, drink, and life :)

This place rocks. It's an institution in the neighborhood, and for very good reason. Amazing pasta, sauces, cheese, gifts--the list goes on and on. It's super fun to explore the grocery section here, but more often than not, we're in it for the homemade sandwiches. Some of my favorites include the Italian, Prosciutto & Fig, and Sun-Dried Tomato Turkey. I definitely recommend ordering them on the ciabatta roll. With this place being as popular as it is, it gets pretty crazy on the weekends. I'd call ahead to place an order if you're in a rush, or be prepared to wait in line. It's so worth it though!!
